Wishlist of the week
Hello this is a nerd post. There is nothing I love more than new electronic goods. I get butterflies about unboxing a smooth, clean, sealed box of a new thing that I get to set up and play with - who doesn't love that feeling? There are a couple of electronic thingy things I have my eyes on and have plans to purchase in the near or distant future. None are really essential but they would be ~nice to have~. Here they are~
iPad + Apple Pencil
I've seen so many artists using their iPads for making digital art or using it to make mock digital works before they create a finished piece and I'm excited about how portable it is and how it makes working on the move easy! I would love to be able to whip out my iPad and Apple Pencil on the train and be able to create digital work there!! I know I'm not making art right now which I am trying to change, but I super duper want to and I'm really dedicated to starting a graphic design course super soon (after I save up the $$$$) so this would be a really nice thing to have for that so I can make use of weird in between times, like travelling to and from work.
I'll probably end up getting the 9.7" iPad in Space Grey. It's compatible with the Apple Pencil and bluetooth keyboards. I'm probably not likely to be using it to take photos because I have a camera and a phone with a good camera.
Apple mouse
I have a Macbook which I lovelovelove, he is my baby. I don't have a mouse and my sister just got the Apple mouse so of course I'm jealous and now I have to get one.
A new graphics tablet
This is more of a longer term purchase because I still have my old graphics tablet I bought five years ago! I hardly use it because I've been on depression art hiatus, but I think it still works. I would really love a tablet where you can see what you're drawing on the display - I think when I use my tablet that's my main challenge because I can't make the connection between what's on screen and my pen strokes. I could probably solve this by practicing!!!!! But I'm a big trash dog!!! I've always found it frustrating to draw a line and then it's completely different on screen to what I thought it was going to be so my fingers are constantly poised on the undo shortcut.
Lights
This is something that I really really want! I've been wanting to start making videos for so long but I'm never happy with the lighting because I always work with natural light and when I've tried to film videos at night the lamps I've used have been AWFUL and just made the video terrible and not worth posting. I'm probably going to buy some cheap and dodgy soft box lights because working full time makes it really hard to be able to film videos during the day and restricts me to weekends because it gets dark before I get home because Winter.
I don't want to be restricted by the weather. I always prefer natural light, I think it makes everything look really wonderful and real, but it doesn't fit with my life schedule and being a slave to the weather makes me sad.
I was going to add photos to this blog but if you're on the internet you probably know what a light or a mouse looks like so it doesn't feel necessary. If you have experience with any of these things, give me hints or tips on what things r good! Mainly for the lights and tablet - let me know your reccs if you have any.
Love as always, SaAaAam.
