october: make-up & outfits
I stayed home from work today because I'm losing my voice and my job is actually me just talking the whole day SO I thought it would be bad for my almost-gone-voice. I'm not entirely absolved of responsibility today though! I have a to do list. This is my to do list.
- Go to the doctor (pray for me, I hate going to the doctors and I feel like I'm ALWAYS THERE between my mental illness and constant getting sick (not serious sickness but am I ever not sick? no))
- Tidy the house! I was supposed to do this the other day when I wrote my ACNL blog post, but then I ended up not doing it and just playing Animal Crossing instead
- Do some washing & take it to the dryers!! Juneau does this every week and I honestly have no idea how they have the energy to walk it down and wait half an hour and then walk it home. I could be playing Mario instead of doing life responsibility???
This all seems like simple stuff but I spent three of the last five days bed-bound because of being sick and depressed so I'm expending some serious energy today, but not before I can procrastinate and write a blog post.
I've been feeling REALLY alright (how is that for a really underwhelming descriptor omg - ye it was really alright, you know?) about my appearance recently and it's been such a welcome change. I shaved my head last year and spiralled into an I'm-so-ugly-this-is-the-worst-thing-ever-I-can't-believe-I-did-that-depression-hole BUT my hair is starting to finally get back to a length where I feel comfortable with it so that's nice. In a few months I'll probably be able to cut it into a bob!! It's amazing.
I've also been doing make-up almost every day. Most days I just wear eyeliner - which seems simple but when you have oily af eyelids like me it's a four step process for it to actually stay on my eyelids. Pair that with my go-to red or pink sparkly liquid lipstick and you've got yourself a regular old Sam ready to take on the world! On rare days, I have the energy to do eyeshadow and I'm LOVING IT. It's so fun. It looks good. I'm getting better at blending and my lil old give-me-attention brain is telling me to keep doing it so I can become internet famous.
ANOTHER COOL THING - this year I've been really branching out with my closet and not wearing all black. I only wore black LITERALLY ONLY BLACK for three years and I figured it was time for a change so I've introduced some COLOUR. I'm really excited about it and always hunting for new cute pastel clothing. I've been drooling over Lazy Oaf for so long but I just can't justify the price! RIP me and my potential cute pastel angel image.
Honestly, it is really nice to start feeling comfortable about my appearance again and I've been trying to take more pictures of my face and my outfits to document the change. I used to take so many pictures of myself when I lived in Queensland and was in my peak period of being a hot binch, but when I moved to Melbourne my self-image suffered an extreme blow when I cut my hair and I stopped taking pictures of myself. It's really weird to go through my photos from the last 4 or 5 years and see pictures of myself just disappear after I moved. I love Melbourne and it's been a really positive experience living here, but after nearly two years, I'm only just becoming comfortable in my skin again and it's bizarre. (I still love myself though I'm really good!)
So here's some pics of my fav make-ups and outfits from October!!
Eyes: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, NYX Vivid Brights in Halo, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24 Hour Waterproof 1 Day Tattoo Liner in Super Black Brows: Urban Decay's Electric Palette, Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette Skin: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette Just Peachy for highlight, NYX Vivid Brights in Halo for freckles Lips: Sugarpill Trinket
Pink eyebrows and yellow freckles!! This was probably my fav fav make-up look of the whole month. I didn't feel like I got a great photo of it, but it's really hard to photograph yellow freckles! They just kept getting washed out and lost in my skin.
Eyes: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette, The Saharan Palette by Juvia's, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24 Hour Waterproof 1 Day Tattoo Liner in Super Black Brows: idk some random brown eyeshadow Lips: Sugarpill Trinket
I've been LIVING for pink eyeshadow this month. These pics are from two different occasions, but both using the same products.
Eyes: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, Anastasia Beverly Hills' Modern Renaissance, The Masquerade Mini by Juvia's, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner 24 Hour Waterproof 1 Day Tattoo Liner in Super Black Brows: Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette Charmed, I'm sure (I think?) Skin: Maybelline Dream Cushion in Fawn, The Masquerade Mini by Juvia's for highlight, Idk what colour though! Lips: Australis Lady in Red lip pencil, NYX Liquid Suede in Kitten Heels
I feel like this look is really different to what I normally wear, but I had to do something ~glam~ for my sister's wedding and I thought it turned out great. My foundation is probably too light BUT I still look fab so whatever (I don't normally wear any foundation! I bought this one on a whim in the last Priceline sale) I also got eyelash extensions for the wedding. They looked soooo good at the start but now they're all tattered and all falling out. I won't be getting them refilled as they're too much maintenance.
Here are my fav outfits ft Juneau~
I really wanted to do Halloween make-up yesterday, but I slept for most of the day from being sick and I'm really disappointed. I have a Halloween morning tea at work tomorrow, so maybe I'll do something simple for that. We shall see~
Until next time! xoxo
